Welcome to The Evolution!

Evolution Dance Studio is located in Ayia Napa, the cultural hub of Cyprus. Just a very short walk from Ayia Napa Primary School, our spacious studio offers the opportunity to exercise, train and have fun. Whether as a hobby or for vocation, our dance school is equipped with everything you need to succeed.

At Evolution we teach syllabus classes in the ISTD method of dance, a world recognised examination board offering UCAS points and Ofqual approved qualifications. We also offer non-syllabus classes including Contemporary, Jazz, Street, Stretch, adult classes and Born to Dance classes. Born to Dance Tots, (0-3 years) and Born to Dance Kids, (3-5 years), is an excellent dance programme tailored especially for young children, based on fun music and movement concepts.

Our facilities include; air conditioning, full length mirrors, ballet barres, aerial hoops of varying sizes and attachments with A-Frame and crash mat, changing rooms, a good quality sound system and a spacious dance studio with sprung wooden flooring.

The principal, Laura Hooper (Enrico Cecc. Dip. and LISTD), is a fully qualified dance teacher with the ISTD, (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) and is also a qualified Spin City aerial hoop Instructor. Laura trained from the age of three at her mother's dance school, the Frances Bleasdale School of Dancing, UK. At the age of eighteen, Laura chose to follow a dance career. Her formal dance training took place in the UK at Kate Simmons Dance Ltd and Preston's College. As well achieving her teaching qualifications there, she gained further performance experience and an in depth knowledge of other genres of dance. 

After her professional dance training, Laura went on to teach at Frances Bleasdale School of Dancing which is located in the UK, Greater Manchester, alongside working in the entertainment industry doing many dance, modelling and TV and film contracts. Some of her credits include working for the BBC, ITV, Sky, Channel 4, Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and several other TV and film roles. She has also completed dance contracts for music videos, a promotional event for a leading UK North West retailer, and many other professional dance shows and events.

Laura has been teaching since the age of 16, entering students of all ages for exams and contributing to dance school shows, including choreography and costumes!

Laura has worked extensively in Cyprus, performing professionally in hotels in the Protaras area. Her first contract was at Pernera Beach Hotel, providing daytime entertainment and dancing in the evening shows, including as a fire performer and aerialist. She also had the opportunity to work at St. Elias Resort, Protaras as Entertainment Manager and professional dancer and aerialist, with prestigious production company SeaCruise UK. Laura then went on to perform at Tsokkos Gardens hotel, creating weekly dance and aerial shows for hotel guests.

In July 2024, Laura gained her Enrico Cecchetti Diploma - a demanding qualification requiring a huge in-depth study of the Cecchetti Ballet method. This requires knowledge of the history of Ballet as a genre of dance, as well as a specific understanding of Cecchetti as a method, and how it has developed over the years. In July 2025, Laura passed her Licentiate Cecchetti Ballet exam. This is a high level dance teaching exam, requiring extensive study of the method and specifically how to best train students to a higher, vocational level. Laura is always keen to continue to develop her own skills and knowledge, as she believes that learning is always ongoing and no one has ever truly finished learning. Dance is an ever changing art and education is for life. She believes that the more she learns, the more she can pass onto her students!

Laura is always very excited to explore opportunities with students of all ages at Evolution Dance Studio! She endeavours to bring her experience and expertise to help all students to achieve their goals. Evolution has taken part in many events since its doors opened in October 2020. These include festivals and parades in the local area:- the Ayia Napa Medieval Festival and Christmas Light Swich on celebrations, Carnival parades in Paralimni, and Children's Festivals in Ayia Napa.
